About me

I am sure I am not the oldest fan on here at 49, but perhaps in the "older" group. ;) Sometimes I do feel old when I hear 20 year old fans say that the first ESC they watched was in 1998. ;) The first...

My first Melodifestivalen. And people are right - it's like a mini ESC. :)

I flew out there last Wednesday - very early - and was there before midday. Stockholm is great. Lots of things to do and places to see, if like me, you're an ESC fan who likes to mix ESC with sightseeing. :) We went to the Vasa Ship Museum - the ship itself was a marvel, and somewhat eerie, like a ghost ship. Like in Oslo, with the Viking Ships, the building that housed the Vasa was hushed, like a church.

I also paid a visit to the Ice Bar with some friends, to pre-celebrate my birthday. What an experience! We looked hilarious in the special capes one has to wear, but they do keep you warm very effectively. The ice sculptures were amazing, and to my surprise, I found that they were wet, not dry, to the touch. The same with the pure ice glasses that our vodka cocktails were contained in - very difficult to hold if you're not wearing gloves.

And on to MF itself. On the Friday, Drew and Tam and I went to the shopping mall at Globen City and chilled out in a nearby cafe, watching some of the MF singers perform. I met Molly Sanden and Dynazty. Molly particularly impressed me - what a great singer. I took the pic of her you can see on this blog. :)

Saturday, it was the Big Night. Surprisingly few flags in the audience - unlike ESC - but Iggy and I went with a huge Bosnian flag and waved it at every opportunity we got....let's just say that after Bosnia's jury voting, the Danny fans around us weren't too impressed. *giggles*

And my favourite - Loreen - won! A magical moment, if ever there was. Here's the footage I took of her performing:

I came home, tired but happy, and am definitely going to MF next year! :)
