Belgian singer Hadise will represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009, Turkish broadcaster TRT officially confirmed this afternoon. Hadise gets the chance to decide herself which song she'll perform at the international competition to be held in Moscow in May next year. Also Hadise, her management and record company confirmed the news on Friday. In the evening, Hadise gave a first reaction in TRT's live news broadcast.
Speculations about who will represent Turkey at the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 have been popping up since months. Mid-September the news that Turkish rock star Şebnem Ferah would represent Turkey was spread, but that appeared to be just a rumour. The Turkish fan massively supported Hadise and get what they wanted. Hadise gets the chance to choose her own songwriters and song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 and the language in which she will sing the song.
Hadise Açikgöz made her first appearance in Idols 2003 on Flemish television channel VTM. She reached the top 50 and got noticed by a record company. She scored hits such as Sweat, Stir Me Up, Bad Boy, Milk Chocolate Girl, A Good Kiss and My Body. In 2006 and 2007 she received a TMF Award for Best Urban Act in Belgium and hosted the television show Turkiye Popstar in Turkey. Hadise currently presents the X Factor live shows in Flanders.
