Review Of The ESC 2011 Songs: Finland

Posted 30/Apr 2011 at 23:18 by David Popescu.

Singer(s): Paradise Oskar
Song: Da Da Dam
Country: Finland

First Thought:
When I heard the news about that Paradise Oskar won, then of course I decided to listen to the winning finnish song, and man I was kind of disappointed, becuase the song was to slow, and boring, I was feeling like there werent going to happend anything at all in the song, and that is how I felt, I even remember thinking that this was a low step from Finland, but hey, the finnish people, know all about it, when you look at their Eurovision history, Finland needs to learn!

My Review:
I know that I sounded evil against the song just before, but the thing I now feel about Finland, is now pretty positive, because the song has grown in me, and I think it is because I have listening to the lyrics, and I must say that the lyrics are very nice, I really enjoy the story about little Peter that does everthing he can do, just to say our dear planet, I have to say that I am tired of ''Saving the Earth'' songs at Eurovision.

Future:
At the moment, then I have to say that I listen to the song by random, when I feel like need to hear the great story, and that might some 7 times a week, but I am really sure that I will like this song more and more, when it gets time for the competition, but after the competition then I think it might depend on which place this song will end on, if the song ends in the final, then I will listen to much more, and from there, then we will see.

Bookmakers:
It looks like that both the juries think a little like me, it could be a sign that the bookmakers were also touched by the story about little Peter, because the bookmakers has decided to give Finland the highest odds being on 74/1 and the lowest being 24/1, and that is 2 great odds, it is not enough to win with, but it is at least okay odds, to do a okay job at the Eurovision stage.

Compared To Former Entries: (2004-2010):
Since the victory the finns have had some great and good songs, this song from this year beats out the entries from 2004 & 2005, but is very close placed with the entry from 2010, I must say that when Finland goes all rock, then I really enjoy it, 2006 proofs that Europe agreed with me, while also the entries from 2007, 2008 and 2009 all were great, but I was just disappointed bby the weak results.
