Since the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest ended last year in Helsinki, my fellow team members at Eurovision.tv and I have all been looking forward to the upcoming event in Belgrade. For a long time, it has seemed like ages before we were heading to Serbia, but now the time has come. In the past many months, we have closely followed the various national selections in the 43 participating countries and brought news for fans and visitors here at Eurovision.tv.

Starting on Sunday, May 11th, rehearsals will kick-off in the Belgrade Arena. Each day a bunch of the participants will appear on stage to rehearse their songs and performances; and cameramen, producers, stylists etc. will all be running around, trying to optimise the approximately three minutes that each performers have on stage at the live event(s). It is a hectic time, but also a great deal of fun! Eurovision.tv will be present in all areas of the event, from the rehearsals and the press conferences to the parties and the actual shows. You will be able to read news articles and watch video footage so you won't miss a thing...

So who will win on May 24th?

That is the interesting question, and I bet many of you already have your favourites! In the past weeks, bookmakers and international Eurovision Song Contest fan clubs have tried to find out who are more likely to win than others. Some by estimating - others like the OGAE organisation, who internally and in each member country vote for the ones they would like to see winning. Despite that there are favourites to win this year's edition of the Eurovision Song Contest, it is not always that the winner was predicted on beforehand. As we know, surprises occured in both 2000 and 2001 when Denmark and Estonia won respectively. So we never really now before the end of the televoting on the evening of the grand Final.

What we do know already is the fact that we will encounter many different types of popular, ethnic, rock, dance and jazz songs. We will also encounter plentiful of performances, some are classic, some are powerful and breathtaking, and others are going to make you smile! Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe that this year is the first where the viewers will be able to get acquainted with puppet looking like a turkey...
