I know it hasn't been that long since my last blog, but since some people think the end of the world is near and is attacking both Malmö, Sweden, SVT and me I think it's about time to sort some things up once and for all. I will post reasons why Malmö is a great choice by analyzing some of the "facts" you claim to know. Because it has gone beyond the point of silly and in to the absurd!
First off I start by saying that Jon Ola sand, Mr Eurovision himself, has said that he wants the contest to be in a smaller scale and more intimate. That's why Friends Arena would be te expensive for such an event. SVT is only adapting to it. Whoever hosts the 2014 edition will have the same issue.
Not to mention the infrastructure. It's much easier getting around in Malmö than it is in Stockholm. As for international transport, flight to Copenhagen and then 30-minute train to Malmö. End of story! or if you want a different route, flight to Stockholm/Copenhagen and then road trip to Malmö. Quite a distance but you will see a lot of Sweden..
"The tourists will stay in Copenhagen"- Yes, some will stay in Copenhagen, but if they want cheaper rooms or wahtever they better off staying in Malmö. Denmark is more expensive than Sweden. Why else would the Danes come here to shop?
"It's a very dangerous city"- Yes, so is Baku, Düsseldorf and Oslo. Malmö isn't more dangerous than any of these cities. It's Sweden we're talking about, not Afghanistan. We have one of the safest countries in the world. Our police force doesn't even wear guns.
And do you think Malmö would just let anything happen? The security and safety will be top-notch and a priority. From the comments from some of you it looks like it's a war-zone, which it is not! Stop believing the news and create your own image instead
"It's anti-semitic"- Some people are unfortunately that, but don't think for one second that that applies to Malmö as a whole. The majority of the citizens are normal people who could care less for religion, ethnicity or nonsense like that. If you could survive Baku, you will most likely survive in a safe country!
"A bad choice, it sucks"- How do you know? You haven't even seen the finished result. Until you actually see the stage, the presenters, the show, and can say this or that was bad, don't dare to judge it! I mean you didn't judge Crystal Hall despite all the controversy, did you? Or Düsseldorf Arena, even though it wasn't Berlin.
"They don't care about the contest"- If you know about our ESC- history you would know that we take it seriously. But seriousness isn't just choosing the arena, it's about making a great and entertaining program. And I guarantee you that SVT will produce a great show, because they do take it seriously.
"Malmö is not Stockholm"- No it is not, nor is it the smallest town in Sweden either. It is our 3rd biggest town, there is plenty to see and do in Malmö. It has a charm that Stockholm lacks.
Some of you act as if Malmö is a small town in the middle of nowhere, most of those comments are not surprislingly from Stockholm.
"It's small"- Most of us, like 90 % will probably watch it on TV anyway, as we did with the previous ones, so it shouldn't matter to you if the arena is small.
And to end it, why is so important which city it will be held in? Isn't it more important to just enjoy the show, the songs, the performers and the presenters. What is important is that it will be a great party and a great show that SVT will produce. As long as the show is amazing it really could be held anywhere in Sweden.
Let's just celebrate that ESC is coming to Sweden after 13 years, and not moan about city. Enjoy it, who knows when the next oppurtunity will come! Be happy dear Swedes, or is that to much to ask?
There you have it: My longest post so far:D I just couldn't take it anymore. Malmö 2013- either accept it or be a big baby about it!
Cudos to you if you read it, and as always feel free to response!

I agree!! Malmö has a lot of culture, I think in that way, it is the best hosting city. A lot of cultures meeting together is good for the contest! ...
