Alright, I guess I had not finished for this year after all. Although I mentioned this in my previous blog, I feel an urge to stress this once again.
After having a look at the scoreboards once again, I get the feeling that something irregular happened regarding either the jury votes or the televotes (or both) of some countries. More specifically, the case seems to be that some groups of votes haven't been taken into account at all - perhaps "deleted"? How else to explain the inexplicable fall from 12 points in the semis to 0 in the final?
Take Greece, for example. They were awarded 12 points from Portugal in the first semi. They also got a respectable 8 from the UK and Croatia, and 7 points from Poland and Spain. The total number of points from these nations for the Greek entry in the final? ZERO!
In the second semi, tako for example the first performer of the night - Dino Merlin from Bosnia & Herzegovina. Slovakia: 12 points; Denmark: 7. In the finals: ZERO!
What happened to the votes? I accept he fact that many songs would recieve more modest marks at the big night, as there are more nations to vote for - not least neighbouring nations. But I can't grasp that someone gets a topmark in the semis and goes down to nothing in the final.
I am one of those wondering how to make this a SONG contest again, in any sense of the word song. How to make it different, yet fair for all? And how to avoid obvious errors (or even fixes) in the voting.
One of the ways is to make official the names of the people in the juries, along with their grades for each aspect of the performances, and the exact number and nature of the televotes. As it is, we get to know nothing.
