Reply from Looney:
Hi there,I think in the end the winner was right, as Soluna performed very well on the evening. You can tell that she is used to performing (for more on this, please do read my last blog - and say what you think).
Of the five shows that you refer to, I am only happy about the 2001 winner, Rollo & King. That song puts me in a good mood. The others are frivolous to me (yes, I know that one of them won the ESC).
Of the Swedish entries from recent years I am really fond of Malene Ernman's "La Voix".

Hope everything is going well with new relations. :D Good news you have your grade in black and white...you are well and truly an academic! I'm certain you should have got a top mark and I'm sure the presentation was great anyway. Hope you get to the capital soon and start feeling much more alive.
Shame Bosnia didn't make the Euros... :( I guess you will support Denmark now. I enjoyed JESC as always and Belarus was my fave, followed by Latvia and Sweden. Thanks for your DVD reviews. I've heard of 'The Cider House Rules', though I've not seen it. Sorry, I'm not familiar with the others you mentioned.
I know what you mean about drunk people and Christmas: I am a direct descendant of Ebenezer Scrooge myself. But I enjoy the time off work and the opportunity to socialise. And yes, I have been known to have the odd seasonal lunch, but never needed a paternity test, lol...so funny! :D Your comments about Danish society are interesting...I wonder why that is...
I'm sure Bosnia can win ESC and the Olympic hall could be good. Fascinating you were born and lived there and saw it being shelled...that must have been very dramatic... It's hard for me to begin to imagine what that must have been like...
Trust the game-playing is going well and you win often. Your article about the Parken looks impressive, even if I don't speak a word of Bosnian. Keep up the good work!
Ankara and Sofia were delightful, sunny, dry and cold. I managed to see several art galleries, old churches, monuments, and the operas 'Cavalleria Rusticana' and 'Gianni Schicchi' in Sofia. Oh yes, and the new 'Twilight' film with both Turkish and Bulgarian subtitles. I met 3 other ESC fans, who showed me around and were fun and charming.
Did you watch the Swiss national final for ESC 12? I can't really believe it's already starting all over again. I hope we won't lose impetus over the next 5 months. I have to say that I agreed with the Swiss people and they chose a strong contemporary song. Actually it reminds me a little of 'A New Tomorrow', hehe. ;) I did wonder if they would choose Lys Assia: she is an icon after all. So we get Albania next in a couple of weeks or so... Is there any news from Denmark yet about the pre-selection?
3 working days left of the year...apart from the obvious financial benefits, I would not recommend employment as a lifestyle, lol. Looking forward to theatre, relaxing and pantomimes... New Year's Eve will see the traditional quiet party with badminton players and an intellectual quiz...I'm so competitive and hate when I don't win... :P Hope you survive the festive season somehow and have a restful and peaceful time. I wish you all good things for the new leap year...and victory for Denmark in the Euros and at ESC of course. And many gold medals in the Olympics! Does that cover everything?
Would you like to have this extensive correspondence by email instead? :) Take care for now and enjoy it all. :D
