The Big 5 make the Biggest Financial Contributions without the big 5 Evorvision would take a Massive step backwards as you say the smaller nations dont have the Finance. I'd look at the bigger issue ...

It is not democratic to keep the Big 5. We should all compete on equal terms!
The big 5 contribute 40% of the total revenue. And the rest is split among the other nations.. Remove the 5 countries. And place even amounts on ALL countries. It is only a 3% increase for each country. So let's not exaggerate the importance of the big 5!
You seriously overexaggerate the block voting issue. Because it is not really that simple. For example. When Germany won with the song in 2010. She was a worthy winner. And all countries voted for it.. Over the blocks.. The same way Molitva won with Serifovic.. Everyone voted for it.. Because it was the worthy winner.
When Norway won.. It won fair and square..
When Finland won.. We were all aghast.. But it managed to win anyway.. Because it got points from everyone.
The reason why nobody is voting for England.. Is because the songs are generally bad.. If you sent a song worthy of the Eurovision.. It would not be like this.
Therefor.. Remove the Big 5 privileges.. And compete on equal terms.. Forcing the tv companies to send good quality music!
