About me

I have been fortunate enough to have heard the first ever Eurovision Song Contest on the radio, and either listened to or watched on TV, every show since. I started recording the shows in 1991 on video The enjoyment I have had from listening to the different types of music throughout the years. is beyond words. Since being able to get internet access, I now get even greater pleasure watching and reading about the build up of each year's contest. In short, I am a true fan of Eurovision, and will be one of the longest serving until I die....

Hi Mick, how did your Eurovision go?

    Reply from Michael:

It went good, albeit being behind the rest of Europe. ! was in Australia at the time, and the live time there was about 0430hrs. Anyway, hid myself from the rest of the world until the Friday before the Final and was able to watch both semi-finals and the final on consequetive evenings as live and at a sensible hour from 1930hrs.

I see Ringo and his All Star band are performing over there in June. I am hoping I can get to see one of the concerts while I am over there. I've got 3 or 4 of their DVD's - and they are all good - would be great live! Have you seen them? And how are you going - got your bags packed yet? Not long now!

Hi Mick - if you want to watch Eurovision live this year - I am afraid you will probably have to do what I do. Get up around 4am and sit in front of a computer and stream it. It will be better of course if you can find a computer with a decent broadband speed. Mine gets a little frustrating but it is watchable. And - I have to do it because I hate waking up on the Sunday morning and the winner is announced on all the news services and on the internet news services - and that spoils it all. So - up I get - its a ritual that I have to do each year.

That Eurovision Party sounds really good. Unlike this year's Romanian entry. I'm not saying it is dreadful. Oh, no. Just dreadfully average. Which is worse.
Hope you and Sue are fine?
Have a fabulous weekend, Mick :)

    Reply from Michael:

    Dear Fabiana
Our tastes in music often differ, and that's normal. It wouldn't do for everybody to like the same things. To you, your entry is dreadfully average. To me it is interesting and entertaining, and, in my opinion (but what do I know), it has the potential to win the competition.
So, when I visit you in 2012, you can buy me a slap up meal, and I can tell you, over and over again, "I told you so !!!!"
Either that, or I'll have to lick the egg off my face. But that's not quite as nourishing as a slap up meal. Ah, but it's cheap. So being wrong has its compensations.
