And now I have a motto with me Filipa Azevedo goes sailing europe and petitions
lol ...
It may be that for the year to go to Finland to take a good song.
This year I do not know who the winner is going to be hard to pick one because we have very good songs.
Denmark, Greece, Spain are my favorites but better than this on Saturday we'll know who wins.
If you like the voice of Filipa Azevedo has a few links of her singing in the Familia tender Super-Star:

2012 in Dublin sounds good to me!
Because obv. 2011 is reserved 4 berlin! =D
Reply from Tobias:
I would hope for Ireland to whip up something completely different for next year (not a ballad, not a folk song, not a plastic Turkey) and make a real impression. Something modern that would rock the world. Then I am all for Dublin again! :)By Maximilian Dietz

That's great!Irish is such a lovely language, and back in the day when Ireland was hosting Eurovision every year, we heard a fair share of it over the EBU network.
Wouldn't it be time for a new Irish victory sometime soon?

Reply from Tobias:
Well, we have five different commentators. Jaana and Asko in Finnish on TV2, Sanna and Jorma in Finnish on Radio Suomi, and then me in Swedish on TV2 + Radio Vega. But it is a fantastic job, it is an old dream of mine to be a eurovision commentator!
Maybe one day you'll be as well? If you do, I will teach you everything I know! :)

How do you pronounce kuunkuisaajat?
Its a great word but i dunno if im saying it right...
Is it: kun - kweeese - kah - jat?
Reply from Tobias:
Let's see... Kuun should rhyme with "toon".Kui should rhyme with Spanish "muy".
Add an "s".
Then "kah" and "iat" rather than "jat", with a very soft j-sound.
Finnish is just such an easy language, isn't it? Why call yourself Abba when there are names like Kuunkuiskaajat? :)

This year so many good songs in the competition. So I have a lot of favourites. Most of all I like Bulgaria, Latvia and Moldova. But even Armenia, Slovakia, Norway, Romania and Serbia are great. I cannot decide me this year. Last year Norway was my favourite and the year before it was Russia. Both won. 2010 I would say Bulgaria or Latvia but I don´t know if it happen. So I let me surprise. I like our "Butterflies". The video is really fantastic! I'm glad to hear that you like it.
And what is your favourite song this year?
I think "Tyolki ellaa" is a very interesting song! And the Finnish language is great!:)
By Danne Lindholm

Honestly this year we don't have a good choice...
Although I not listened to any song, and so that still can not talk about...
But the choice of singers is bad,I think this year in Eurovision we don't have a chances!!!
Reply from Tobias:
Hey,I liked Emina when she took part in the 2002 Bosnian final, but I don't know much about her style since then.
I think 2010 is not a very convincing year song-wise, so I believe any country giving a decent performance in the final could stand a chance. So fingers crossed for all of us!

Greetings right back - what are your feelings about this year's entries so far?By Heli V.
By Nathalie Da Silva Naveda
Just to say I couldn't agree more with your latest blog entry... this is all way too nice also for me...
Worst thing is that by looking at the candidates in some countries left to decide, everybody seems keen on going the nice way..
.
ESC2010 starts to look too safe to be unforgettable... I hope Norwegians can make up a great show anyway, even if songs seem not to be going to help...
I hope I can bring my mp3 player with some great Finnish music to the arena, for when I'll start to get bored by these bland tunes...
But most of all, I hope it will get better the next weeks. I hope those left to decide really surprise me. I pray for it...
Greetings from Switzerland!
By Colin Merlevede
Well, I don't know what to expect from Tom Dice...
His manager told us that he would advise him to sing a ballad.
A good choice for him, I think, but it can still go both ways...
I've just seen Kuunkuiskaajat's video clip and it's very, very Finnish isn't it? :-)
Snow, forests, singing by the fire and a horse...
It totally reminds me of a children's programme that was broadcast on Dutch TV in the '80s.
I don't remember much of it and I can't find anything about it on the internet either.
It was about a Sami guy called Mika (wearing the traditional clothing). I'm not sure whether it was a Finnish, Swedish or Norwegian series.
Do you know what series I'm talking about.
Anyway, this is how I thought Scandinavia was like when I was a child.
Snow all year round, people who live in wooden houses wearing woolen sweaters in red and blue and funny hats, chopping wood for the fireplace in the forests that are all around and driving in a Volvo 240 with headlights on during the day.
A simple trouble-free live in line with nature.
Nothing like Belgium, anyway...
But I'm digressing:
Työlki ellää really reminds me of Värttinä.
I like this kind of music.
Unfortunately I don't think the majority of people watching the Eurovision Song Contest will like this...
I do think Finland will make it to the final but I don't think they will end in top 10.
The song is very different from what other countries will bring so it will stand out from the rest but I don't think it's special enough to win.
The song is really growing on me though.
It gets better every time I hear it, but I can't help getting the impression that the song is over 3 minutes.
It doesn't hold my attention all the way until the end.
I hope you don't mind me saying...
It's nice that the song is in Finnish.
The language used to be Finland's handicap (or so it was considered) but this song prooves that you can turn it into an advantage, just like Estonia did last year.
Who knows? Maybe Finland could surprise us in May.
It's hard to tell.
So far, my favorite song is Switzerland.
What do you think about the songs that have already been selected?
By Tigran Dumanyan
By Nathalie Da Silva Naveda
Yes, yes, I'm devoted to Finland to the point I'm learning Finnish and Swedish!. Weird enough I'm making more progress in Finnish, but maybe because I dedicate more time to it :-P.
Finland is somewhat a discrete country internationally-wise, yet in Eurovision I feel like you are ready to try everything, I LOVE that. And I'll never be amazed enough on how from a country with just 5 million people can emerge so many superb bands and musicians.
I think Finland has a touch of mistery, and God knows why, as I don't have any Finnish roots in my close family, each time I go to Helsinki, I feel home.
GOD BLESS YOUR COUNTRY! :-D
By Sharleen Wright
How are you doing? Shall I be seeing you in Oslo?
I have everything sorted now (accreditation approved, tickets, flights, accommodation), so I'm sure the wait will feel like forever.
What are you thinking about the selections so far? I'm liking Albania, Denmark and Cyprus (in that order).
I'm now involved in the 'Asiavision/Our Sound' teams. The announcement should happen soon enough, but the dates confirmed are 26-28 November in Mumbai.
They don't want to connect it in anyway with Eurovision, but I was selected as part of the team on that very basis. I'll be contributing to the worldwide official website, and then also helping prepare the Australian selections promotion online.
All exciting, exciting stuff.

And maybe you're right, MAYBE this will be our year, not to win but at least top 10!!!!! Cheers from Romania!!!!!
Reply from Tobias:
Romania is such a good ESC-nation, sooner or later it must be your turn to win. 2005-2006 were such good years for you, find an entry as sharp as those and you will be bang up in the top again, I'm sure.By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
It seems it doesn't change the final result much whether the lines are open all through the show or only for 15 minutes. But in Oslo, the lines will open when the show starts. If you keep the lines open longer, you get more calls plus more money, and that is what counts these days, it seems.By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
My favourite in 2009 must be Bosnia-Herzegovina, I think it is a wonderful entry. But there were many good songs, and I think all 25 in the final were quite good.By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
Next year, they are changing the rules again. 2008 + 2009 televote selected nine finalists and the juries selected the 10th, but from next year on, we will have 50/50 jurt/televote already in the semi. Will be interesting to see how that changes things.I feel a bit sorry about the Czech Republic, but I feel they are giving up too soon.
By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
Yes, and I was really surprised. I did not think it was the kind of song that the juries would favour.By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
I think so, yes. Last year, they changed their own rules three times during the process, so I have no idea how they will do things this time around.By marcus thereson
Reply from Tobias:
I also felt it was deeply unfair that Finland was last in the final, but at least we got to the final. Finland had a good song but gave a weak performance, unfortunately. I hope we will do well in Oslo, that would feel good.By marcus thereson

But I also think that 30 songs is too much, maybe about 15 would be better. But there is couple quite good songs. =)

Moscow was just as you told me it would be...
I really had such a great time.
Finland had a good song this year.
I was really surprised to hear that they needed the jury's wildcard to pass to the final.
My all time favourite finnish entries are:
Hanna Pakarinen - Leave me alone and Kaija Kärkinen - Hullu yö
and Lordi of course.
Despite what is often said, I am convinced that they would also have won it without the monster costumes...
So it's Oslo next year...
Are you going this time?

Well, it depends where in Poland do you live - because bigger cities (like Wrocław, Warszawa or Kraków) life is better than little village's.
My town is not big, not small - and for me, I live good and my town is pretty and unusual ;)
In Poland big problem is that lot of Polish people don't protect the enviroment, so... on the grass you can see a lot of rubbish...
Of course we have got people, who tidies rubbish from streets, but it's not enaught.
But life in Poland is good ^^ Maybe not like in he biggest metropolies like UK or France, but for me - it's good.
How do you live in Finland?
I must say, I would love to go to Finland, Norway or Sweden - I think I'm going to Norway for holiday 2010.
Have you got plans for this holiday, for 2009? I think I'm going to France.
What about you?

I am fine, getting ready for ESC. By the way, I saw the rehearsals recently. Both Sweden and Finland were amazing. Malena has a very strong and rare voice and Waldo's People have created an excellent number. :) Can't wait to see it in action.
Have a good luck with your work. :)
And of course have very nice sunny and warm spring days in your soul and you will achieve everything you want. :)

Sorry for the late reply :( Can you please re-sent me your mail? I lost it :(

Reply from Tobias:
Welcome right back! It is great to talk to people from Iceland... It has been one of my fave ESC countries ever since 1986... :)By Kátia Dias
So you like the portuguese song huh? =)
Well i think it's very hard for Portugal win.. i think our best year was last year and wasn't enough! =(
Well the song of this year isn't so good like the one of last year but i believe we can get into the final!
To be honnest, i didn't like the finnish song of 2006..i was sad because i wanted Dima would won.. but that's okay, he won last year! =)
I really like your song of this year and i think might be a potential winner! =)

Yes! Im getting excited even if I wont go :( but i'll cover everything from home :D I think that Greece will take a good place in the top10 but of course not the 1st! The finnish entry is one of my favorites this year!! Do you work for the YLE maybe?
cuuu! greets from Greece :)

Well, it is getting closer isn't it... :-D
I still have quite a lot of work to do in the preparation (edit videos to include in my reports) but I can imagine the same things goes for you...
It's my first time at the ESC so I don't really know what to expect but I suppose it will be a lot of work (but a lot of fun too...).
I think I will need about 40 hours per day to do all the things I would like to do.
Perhaps we'll meet in Moscow.
All the best from Belgium!
By Alexander Mesheriakov
Not necessarily because it is interesting to watch Finland and Sweden via YLE and SVT in 1st semi-final because they participate there. :)
But nevertheless, many thanks, kiitos & tack så mycket. :D
It's going to be the best ESC. :D
Reply from Tobias:
I will copy it so you get my commentary in Swedish... Unless I scream too much, then I send you the Finns instead... :DBy Alexander Mesheriakov
What's new and how are you? :)
I wanted to ask you to record me from YLE or SVT the shows of ESC 2009 1st Semi-Final and final, and that's all. :)
Can you do that for me if possible. I would be very grateful. :)

No problem. What about the second semi?By Onil Rodriguez Cruz
DO you have facebook?

Nothing special: the same day at the Academy where I study and a disappoint: I lost my chance to become a volunteer at the ESC cuz the campaign is over and the matter is that there was no information about it in Russian mass media. :(
But never mind, tell me please is Jade nice? :) I mean is it nice to talk with her.
I met in person Aysel, Arash and Sakis Rouvas. Must say, they're really nice and so intelligent, that I decided never ever to read tabloids cuz there is quite a lot of lying about the stars. :)
And I want to ask you to do something for me if possible? :)

hmm.. I don´t know..
Maybe this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-IsbecvxF0
There isn´t something better.. :/
What is your favourite Finnish entry until now?
Reply from Tobias:
Tublatanka was not bad, but Modlitba is my favourite. Lovely song. My favourite Finnish - that is very hard. But if I have to select one, maybe it is Eläköön elämä from 1985... There were many good ones, though...By Alexander Mesheriakov
how are, what's going on in Helsinki? :)
Reply from Tobias:
Everything is fine in Helsinki... I interviewed Jade today (true!) and made a radio report out of that. And tomorrow I will stay home to mend my poor throat... And you, what is new in your life? :)By Phill Stybar
Reply from Tobias:
You should. Great analysis there, something that is often quite rare... :)By David :)
so there was no course spend with lordi haha
my favourites are norway, romania and island but poland, finnland and of course germany :DD are also quiet good!
i read you need help with you report in swedish but i'm so sorry i can't speak or understand any word in swedish

I'm sure you have the Uk's entry with Jade pretty much covered - but feel free to ask anything you may need of me - i'm more than happy to help!
Reply from Tobias:
I will actually interview Jade tomorrow for Finnish radio... But there are many other things I am wondering about. Like UK press coverage, is it so that people talk about the ESC this year?By Anthony Robinson
Well what can I say....it's a small world! You gotta love that key change! What were you doing over in Oslo? Was it for the final? Well, I'd love to help you out with som info about Norway but it looks like one of the hot favourites so the media have got it all pretty well covered!
Reply from Tobias:
I actually went to Kyiv 2005 as part of the Norweigan delegation, so it was pretty normal for me to go to the national final as well. And it was a good one!I was at this year's final in Spektrum as well and, yes, we may all be heading towards Oslo next year... Maybe you should give it a shot to represent Norway on home ground? :)

Thank you for the inviting!
If you need help from and about Hungary, about the hungarian entry and singer, you can contact me!
I would like to help you!
With my best wishes to Suomi:
Stefan
Reply from Tobias:
Thank you, thank you. I have Zoli Ádok pretty much covered - I am a big fan of his entry (as well as most Hungarian ESC-entries, to be honest), but any piece of input or info would be welcome. Like, what does the hungarian public make of this entry? Thanks a lot for all the help and best of luck to Hungary!
By Gašper Žnidaršič
how are you? so, you've been in slovenia? twice? cool... finland is somewhere at the top of my list of the countries i want to travel to some day... when i'll have money ;) i study geography and i find finland very interesting...
you also have a good song this year. it's maybe a bit oldfashioned but still very good and maybe one of the favourites.
Se še pišema in lepe pozdrave iz sončne Slovenije v prelepo Finsko ;)
Reply from Tobias:
...and both times in Slovenia I went by train to or from Zagreb, so I have seen quite a lot of Slovenia... It is wonderful. And you had quite a few really fantastic eurosongs through the years. But Finland isn't that bad either, you should absolutely try to come here and see for yourself.
I agree that Lose Control maybe lacks in the progressive department, but it is very catchy, and I think and hope we will do well.
Bästa hälsningar tillbaka till det vackra Slovenien!
By Tomas Imrisek
Reply from Tobias:
I like the Slovak song, and I like the drama in it. But I think the female singer should calm down a bit... :)In short: I like it, but I am not convinced it will make it to the final... But I am very pleased to see you back.
By David :)
i learned nearly an half year a lot of your industry and your country because of attending a special course at school ;)
the most important question in the beginning is OF COURSE who is your favourite this year :)
by the way i really like the finnish entry but i think it doesn't score that high as it was happening a lot of times =(
Reply from Tobias:
Well, given the history of Finland... We are happy if we make it to the final. Anything more than that is just a bonus... :)By Rodrigo Romero
I too am trying to get a broader picture on what the whole of Europe is thinking right now, so that I can make my predictions, without regard to my personal tastes!!!
Well, I hope to read soon from you!!
Reply from Tobias:
For instance, I like Finland, Romania, Bosnia and Armenia. And I am not too wild about Montenegro or Macedonia. But I like the fact that our opinions differ - for me ESC is all about diversity. :)By Vladimir Ristivojevic
My favorites for this year are UK, ROMANIA GREECE, DENMARK. What about yours? If you have facebook profile feel free to add me
Reply from Tobias:
I have many, but Armenia and Bosnia-Herzegovina are definitely among them. And France!I was really sore last year when I couldn't go to Belgrade, and this year I miss Moscow as well. I just hope I will be sent off next year...

That is excellent! I wish you a wonderful time - ESC is such a big party! I wish I would be going as well... Hopefully next year!By Andrei ESCfan
This year I like Sweden, Finland, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Modavia,Ukraine(but not so much like last year), Greece, Turkey, Andorra, and of course Romania's song this year!do you like our song? Regards from Romania!!!!
Reply from Tobias:
I think the Romanian song is very, very catchy. It is one of my personal favourites, actually. I have liked many Romanian entries through the years, you are a great ESC nation!By Moses Sanchez
Reply from Tobias:
Well, I love Finland too. I am originally a Swede who moved here seven years ago. And I have no intention of going away... :)Tampere is a nice city, which often hosts our national eurovision finals, so I have been there quite a few times... :)
My favourites are France, Armenia, Bosnia... and Norway is going to win it... :)
By Moses Sanchez
By Alexander Mesheriakov
Honestly to say, I am totally disappointed. That's the only song I don't like. And if it wins, I will be disappointed in ESC forever. :(
Reply from Tobias:
I think 2Mamo" has a certain something (it is easy to remember, if anything) but I can't see it winning. And I am not too impressed by the performance either. Russia had many better entries in the past...By Alexander Mesheriakov
No, Finland is also in my favourites. Truly to say, Quite a lot of countries have good entries this year. :)
And Finland is this year 2000 times better than last one.
Armenia I also like, after that song start thinking about Harni monastery and Sevan lake. :)
Reply from Tobias:
I totally agree about last year's finnish entry... It got a bit tedious in the end with all that rock, so I am happy about us sending something radically different this time around. What is your view on this year's russian entry, then?
By Chris Glover

You're welcome. I will provide commentary in Swedish for Finnish tv/radio and am looking for input of various kinds that could be useful to me. (Any old thought I didn't come up witth myself, to be honest.):)
By Alexander Mesheriakov
My favourite are Norway, Turkey, Sweden, Greece, Azerbaijan, Spain, Germany, Lithuania, Estonia, Poland, Iceland and Bosnia & Herzegovina. :)
So to say, my TOP 12. :)
Reply from Tobias:
WHAT??? No FINLAND??? :D (Only joking...) :)We agree on some and disagree on some. I really like Armenia and France and think Norway will win hands down... :)
By David Graham
Yeah some do tend to take things to seriously. At leat the masses can see it for the fun that it really is as it brings so many people together
Reply from Tobias:
I say the same. We (Western Europe) spent 45 years wishing the East was with us, so we should be happy if they managed to get well enough to win... :PToo many complaints and too little party in my book.... :)
By Alexander Mesheriakov
You are right, everything is gonna be amazing, I hope only that it won't be spoilt by cool and bad weather. :)
How is the weather in Helsinki?
Reply from Tobias:
The weather here looks like God forgot about us... Sunny but very cold.I know what you mean about the cold - when the contest was held in Helsinki in 2007 it was still far too cold for many foreigners' liking. But the sketches I saw of the stage promising a GREAT show.
By Alexander Mesheriakov
Kiiitos for adding me as your friend. :)
Welcome to Moscow, Russia. :)
Wish Finland and Sweden all the best at the ESC. :)
How are you?
Reply from Tobias:
Hey there! You're welcome! Unfortunately, I am not coming to Moscow, but will do my commentary from Helsinki. But I hope (and think) everyone on location will have a great time!
