So we move on to the most controversial participant (as usual) Ukraine. And not because we are having more Verkas Serduchkas this year but because there's always seem to be a problem in their national finals. Anyways let's talk about the final entrant:

Angels by Mika Newton (which I'm still trying to figure out where she got that name from.. Mika? Olivia Newton-John?) is yet another song that has been killed in the translation. The problem is that despite Newton's voice is sweet and impeccable, her accent is not and it's pretty thick too. And the lyrics also became pretty meaningless you can notice the songwriter just knows basic English. You guys really need to hear the original version (and read it off course) the lyrics were much more poetical and her vocals also sounded better with much more emotion. Other than that one thing that did came out to be ten times better is the music it has the romantic touch a modern pop song.

I'd like to say that I'm not against the use of English in the contest but songwriters (as well as performers) really need to be very careful at translating an entry since it might just take away the professionalism of the song.

Other than that Ukraine has some chances of getting through the final but they might be facing one of their worst placings ever.
