So far in this national final season, we got to hear the 4 songs that have already been chosen from Switzerland, Albania, Denmark, and Cyprus. Switzerland kicked things off with SinPlus (which is two brothers named Ivan and Gabriel) with the song 'Unbreakable'. I didn't watch the Swiss NF, but I could see why they beat Lys Assia (no offense, she gets my respect).
Albania was next, with their 4-night, of which one was a tribute because that was the 50th anniversary, contest to see who will be the country's 9th entry. My favorite Goldi Halili didn't make it, so instead we got Rona Nishliu (who is from Kosovo) with the song 'Suus'. I don't like to give negative opinions early, but... ekk? Really?
Denmark's MGP got 9 songs to choose from (10 originally), of which 1/3 went to the super final as they call it, and Soluna Samay came out on top with the song 'Should've Known Better', which in my opinion was the best entry out of the 9 they got anyway, so I'm very happy for them. It was a sweet song, so I expect Denmark to do well.
Then this past Wednesday, Cyprus had to pick a song for Ivi Adamou (I like her already). There were 3 songs. 3 VERY GOOD songs to choose from, so it didn't matter which one, I'm planning to put Cyprus in my top 10. 'You Don't Belong Here' was my personal favorite, followed by 'La La Love' and 'Call the Police'. In the end, it was 'La La Love' and it instantly became my number 1 (out of 4). WELL DONE, CYPRUS!!!! Possible top 10 for you.
We still have 39 songs to go (38 if you heard the snippet of the French entry. It's very promising. If you love 'Moves Like Jagger' by Maroon 5 (I LOVE IT!) then you'll love 'Echo (You and I). Go Anggun!). In the meantime, I'm gonna try to watch the Norwegian MGP because I'm hoping Malin Reitan (JESC anyone?) will qualify for the final.
