I am a singer / guitarist / keyboardist / songwriter If anyone wishes to contact me to chat, discuss ESC, or propose some idea that would be helpful (I don't know how)... Questions? Comments? Concerns? (I'm sure you have at least concerns!) >>Email me!<< valbonne[@]hotmail.com UPDATE: I'm so sorry that my MSN hasn't been working... The Artists: Do They Represent Their Culture?

I agree with Steef van Gorkum's blog post. http://www.eurovisionfamily.tv/user/steefsteef/blog/?id=111902

It's nice to have some regional representation, but it doesn't always have to depend on the person's origin. However, I would say the reason we find so many of those generic pop songs and such is because not all regional music and not all languages have the same appeal (unfortunately, I love diversity and I would not rank an Italian song above a German song simply because of how the language sounds, but some would, or vice versa). It used to be this way, and there were more than a few problems, if you ask me.

Also, if each country were to use regional flavours, it would add more interest to the entry in my opinion, but some might consider it overdone (France, I think, would be rather at a disadvantage with its stereotypical café music, while Germany might enter with Schläger and Italy with opera, and the UK with Brit-pop)... I would just recommend that the foreign entrants stay sober enough to clearly know who they're representing ;)

So, 43 countries in the running for Eurovision in Baku 2012, and I'm fired up! Good luck to all the artists; I wish them well for their efforts (although some may argue that certain entries are debatable).
