Swiss entries tend to be really good, but on the night of the show they just drown. In the previous two editions 'Era stupendo' and 'Vampires are alive' were hot favorites almost in every website, but ended up staying in the semifinals because of rather poor performances. 'If we all give a little' directly qualified to the final was surely no favorite, but suffered from the same fate. So the last time the Swiss had a decent placing goes back to 2005 with the magnificent 'Cool vibes'.
This year follows with the tradition of good songs from the Alpine country, and Lovebugs present us with an extraordinary pop-rock theme which is refreshing and very easy to like. Again, I admit to have a soft heart when it comes to liking Swiss entries, but I really think that this song is pure quality; probably not a winner, but I'd surely be disappointed if it didn't make it to the final. The draw is not working in their favor though. Singing before one of the hot favorites of the whole contest is never good (Turkey will sing in the ninth position), but I think that even that shouldn't prevent such a good song to make it to the final.
It's surely not one of my hot favorites, but I still have to applaud the Swiss broadcaster for yet again present a song which has the quality that a contest like ESC demands. Eurofans as a whole should be thankful for the offer of a song which doesn't necessarily follow the Eurovision pattern, but still manages to be very pleasant to hear.
