Hi Rodri,
Sorry about the delay in replying...had computer problems ...in that they both decided to 'blow up' at the same time, sorted now though.
Yep, for the very first time I've been listening to the songs before the actual nights of the contest. I agree about the ballads bit but to be honest whilst I thought last year was probably the best yet in terms of how good the best ones were and that there were so many of those I find this year is possibly the best overall in terms of I haven't found a song that I just can't listen to again. I know stuff grows on you but even so there are some of last years that I just skip on the CD even now.
I can even listen to the Nethelands entry which I think is wonderfully hideous (or is that hidiously wonderful!!). First time I heard it I was transported back to the early 70s!!! Lol Boy the Dutch really know how to have fun, for sure!!
My top two are Tom Dice for Belgium and Lena for Germany with Me and My Guitar being my favourite...it just hits the parts the other beers just can't reach!! Loool. I also like the Estonian, Lithuanian, Cypriot and Belarussian entries in particular. The Moldovan entry is quite good especially the sax solo which I think is brill. Turkeys entry is pretty good, the video is quite cool and the Azerbaijan entry is the sort of girls song that could even be commercially successful over here. Disappointed though that Romania didn't chose Lay Me Down by Zero for their entry.
Hope things are good in your world :)

Hi Rodrigo

Good luck tonight in selecting the Spanish Song. From what I have read the Spanish public will be supporting Coral - she is wonderful - but I would like to see Anabel Conde or Daniel Ditges in Oslo. Both of them could win!!!

Enjoy tonight
Cheers
Gary
Reply from RODRIGO:
Hi Gary,
On the whole, I think it was a good show yesterday night. I have to say that Diges was not my favourite song but it was the best acting together with Coral, Anabel Conde and Lorena and, after watching it, I thought he would be the winner - in fact, I voted for him! Maybe it's our best chance to get a decent place in Oslo, at least it's a classy song sung with a good voice and with a touch of originality. Thanks for your comments. What about the Irish selection?
:)

Hey Rodrigo

I am so looking forward to the SPanis final - I actually like all the songs except for John Cobra. My favourites are Anabel Conde (AMAZING) and Daniel Ditges but I believe that Coral is the favourite - a good song too but Anabel and Daniel would be my choices. Happy voting on Monday

Cheers
Garrett

Hi Rodri, Like your choices of Keane although Snowed Under isn’t one I’ve heard before but thanks to the Internet I will have done shortly. The rest are my favourites as well, together with Bend and Break. Yeah they are quite similar to Travis, another group whose songs I like. Thing is that I tend to hear the singles and like them but never get around to exploring further! That’s what I like about this My Eurovision thing, it gets you into ‘explore’ mode!! :)) Again with the Corrs, haven’t actually listened to their albums so now I’ll look up their first one and let you know what I think!
Yeah, the list is huge!!!! Would have been simpler to state the ones I didn’t like!!!:DD Thing is I’ve left out quite a few !!!. If it sounds good, then it’s good.
See that you’re looking for a job and accommodation in the Bath/ Bristol area? What’s the ‘score’ there, if you don’t mind me asking? Unfortunately I live quite away from there so can’t help. Hope you get it ‘sorted’.
Regards

Hi Rodrigo, thanks for the invite. Interesting list that I look forward to making my way through. Favourite singers ....you've just reminded me of several I left out, James Blunt, Enya, Travis, Billy Joel,A-Ha and of course the Corrs (my favourite is actually the drummer). How can one family be that attractive!!

Thanks for the request Rodrigo. I have been reading your blogs with that much interest, I thought that we were already friends.
I see that we both like Amina's 1991 entry. I rank it as my all time best. Every time I play it, it sends shivers down my spine.

Hey Rodrigo,
I can see that you have chosen some of my favourite Norwegian entries aswell :)
In addition to the ones you've mentioned I also like Alltid Sommer from 1998, Visjoner from 1992, For vår jord from 1988, Adieu from 1982, Touch my life with summer from 1975 and of course the first song Norway ever had, Voi Voi from 1960.
My favourite one among all the Norwegian entries would be Nocturne.
I agree with you that it is nice to hear the songs sung in local languages. I always tend to like the balkan songs that are sung in i.e. Croation or Serbian.
Among the Spanish entries I would like to mention I love you mi vida from 2007, Dime from 2003, Vuelve conmigo from 1995, Bailar pegados from 1991, Bandido from 1990, Y solo tu from 1981, Su cancion from 1979, Eres tu from 1973 and of course the entry sung by wonderful Salome in 1969.
Among all these I would say that Eres tu is my favourite with Bandido, Y solo tu and Su cancion as hot runner ups :)
There is just something special about this contest and the different kind of music and languages mixed that makes you addicted... hehe..
Wishing you a nice day from Oslo.

Hey, well, I'll keep this weird tradition of ours of actually writing in English when we're both Spanish speakers jaja.
I too think that Iceland was the best, and I'm really disappointed on how things went for Spain. Yet, I did like Norway, and I loved Estonia too. Oh, and the UK and France were impressive. I also loved Malta and Sweden, but it's impossible to see all of your favorites on the top of the scoreboard.
Well, here's my email, to keep in touch: rodras29@hotmail.com

Hi Rodrigo - thanks for adding me to your friends list. You have a very broad range of taste in music, some Im not sure off. I see your not backing Norway to win (I agree on that - find it a bit silly and boring) lol

Hey, well, I agree with you in Croatia, it's a little bit of the same that every single year one of the Balkan countries presents!!!
On the other hand I actually did like Ukraine (I thought I'd hate it), but I would have left Lithuania out, the song is so boring, and going nowhere!!!
After all, I stick with Iceland, Spain and France, and hope and pray that it won't be Norway!!!

Salut Pierric.

Hello Rodrigo. Thank you for your comment! =)
E força Espanha!
Reply from RODRIGO:
Boas noites Miguel,

Reply from RODRIGO:
Hola Rodrigo!
