Thirteen years old Nicole Azzopardi from Mosta will represent Malta at Junior Eurovision 2010, with the song “Knock Knock… Boom Boom!”. After a 20-strong final from the Auditorium of St Paul’s Missionary College in Rabat, Malta, Nicole emerged as the winner. Nicole

“Love to share” by Maria Desira & Justine Delmar and “Shout It Out” by Ylenia Vella completed the Top three.

The jury for the show consisted of: Fr. Karm Debattista, Joe Gatt, Jacqueline Delicata, Francesca Aquilina, Marouska Muscat and Neville Pace. The voting process was supervised by Dr. Joseph Refalo, Notary Roland Wadge, Auditor Jonathan Desira, and members of the Eurosong Advisory Team. The winners trophy was handed to Nicole by PBS chairman Mr. Joseph Mizzi.

The song is losely based on a traditional Maltese childrens game ‘Bum bum il-bieb’. It is also the first song in Junior Eurovision to contain some lines in Maltese.

Nicole is no stranger to Maltese Junior Eurovision selections. She has taken part in each national final between 2007 and 2010, with a total of five entries. As well as the Junior Eurosong festival, she has won the Maltese language festival ‘L-Ghanja tal-Poplu’ (as well as awards for “Best performance/presentation”), Romanian festival ‘Te Amo’ and Italian kids festival ‘Zecchino d’Oro’. She was chosen as the winner of Malta Junior Eurosong 2010 by a six person jury, and a televote.

Aside singing, her hobbies include swimming, dancing and playing the piano. Her vocal teacher is Glen Vella, who participated in Malta’s Eurovision national finals in the past two years, both times placing in the top three.

For Malta Junior Eurosong, Nicole is joined on stage by four dancers; Corinne, Jeanice, Mattea and Maria. Below you can find a video for “Knock Knock… Boom Boom”.
