Malta’s Eurovision hopeful, Glen Vella has recently visited the UK and Italy as part of his promotional tour in preparation for the Eurovision Song Contest.
His first stop was in London on Sunday 17th April. There he took part in the Eurovision party that was held at Shadow Lounge in London’s Soho where he met with a huge number of fans including some Maltese that live in London who grasped the occasion to meet with Glen.
Nicki French co-hosted the show. French is best known for her 1995 dance cover version of ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’, and for representing the United Kingdom in 2000 at Eurovision in Stockholm.
During his performance, Glen sang ‘One Life’ and also performed one of his Eurovision all time favourites ‘Love shine a light’ by Katrina and the waves. As usual Glen created a fun atmosphere and the media quoted him as a natural entertainer with a joyful character.
Whilst in London Glen was interviewed by the BBC, Sky and a substantial number of ESC journalists.
On Monday Glen flew to the Italian TV studios RAI in Milano. There he took part in a recording for Top of the Pops. The show was built around the same concept of the video. Top of the Pops will be broadcast on RAI Due on Saturday 7th May 2011 at 2pm (CET time). The programme can be followed through a web link at http://www.rai.it
Italy was the last country on the promotional programme. Over the past few weeks Glen visited Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Armenia, Georgia, The Netherlands, UK and Italy. Now he is back with his team working hard on rehearsals.
Glen and the Maltese delegation are expected to leave for Dusseldorf on Saturday 30th April.
